How we work

Oakmasters specialises in manufacturing timber frames for wholesale. Our customers are mostly other businesses like timber framers or construction companies and we don’t provide assembly or turnkey project services. Instead we have developed a streamlined approach, tailored to meet the needs of our clients. We focus exclusively on manufacturing, which reduces our costs – savings we directly pass on to you. If you're a self-builder or a non-trade customer, we can still help you achieve your vision cost-effectively. We offer expert guidance, tailored advice, and access to our trusted network of specialists to support you every step of the way—all while ensuring you get the best possible prices on oak frames.

Our CNC Machine

We've been making timber frames for 30 years. For most of that time we hand-crafted all the beams, but recently we've moved to CNC production. We have a Hundegger K2i machine which precision-cuts timber and guarantees seamless on-site assembly. With clear plans included, this means builders save time, cut costs, and get straight to the build. While our timber framing machine manufactures components at high speed we are serious about never compromising on quality. Our frames are still hand-finished and we use only the highest-quality timber.

Our network of specialists

We maintain a network of trusted designers, engineers, and installers with whom we have extensive experience and confidence. On request, we can include third-party services such as Architectural Designers and CAD/CAM Design & Engineering specialists in your quote. Alternatively, we can put you in touch directly so you can instruct them yourself. Since there's no middleman markup, you'll save even more on these services. We can also work closely with trade professionals of your choice, or self-builders who have their own principal contractors or builders.

Design & Engineering
To ensure precision and compliance, we recommend you use specialist oak and timber frame designers and engineers. We can include their third-party services in your quote on request including Architectural Designers and CAD/CAM Design & Engineering specialistsplease just get in touch!

If you choose to work with an independent designer, you’ll enjoy several advantages:

Installation
Our timber frames are designed for easy assembly, with all joints precision-cut in our factory and supplied as a complete kit with detailed assembly plans. This means you don’t need specialist teams to construct the frame on-site. Across the UK, our kits are assembled by local building contractors, who can also handle additional work such as groundworks, roofing, and services. However, if you or your contractor require extra support, we can recommend local specialists to assemble the frame or provide on-site assistance as needed. If you want a turnkey package, we also have recommended contractors who can provide this for you using our frames. Just ask.
