What's in the National Self Build & Renovation Centre?

The Centre has been built on a scale unseen in the UK. You may never have thought about what goes into building or renovating a home. So much of the knowledge needed is hidden from view or littered with jargon. But here you can walk through exhibits that lay bare and contrast the various methods of building in exploded detail.

What’s more you’ll be able to rent headphones for an in-depth guided audio tour of the Centre too to get right into the detail.

Whether you have just kicked off a self building or renovation project or you’re giving it serious thought, the new National Self Build and Renovation Centre at Swindon is simply a must see! Where else can you walk through two permanent houses, view cut-away foundations, floors and walls, understand how the insides of a septic tank might work or see how a renovation project progresses stage by stage for real?

Oakmasters has contributed no less than 3 different showpieces to provide the general public with a wealth of information about our area of the building industry. The first, The Story of Oak seeks to show the benefits of using Oak in selfbuilding and renovating in terms of structural or cosmetic timbers. The second shows specifically how our beam casings can be used to hide ugly pipe work or RSJs. The third is a product pod that provides textual and graphical insight into all our products and services and the option to order a brochure.
