So that’s it, Christmas is over for another year: the turkey has been (almost) eaten, the drink flowing and the presents plentiful. But has this festive period shown you that you need room for a bigger dining table, a larger family area to accommodate all your relatives, or more space to play charades in? If you’re considering building an extension to make next Christmas even more enjoyable, then we’ve got some great ideas to inspire you.

1. Oak Framed Dining Room Extension

This impressive oak framed dining room extension was inspired by a similar room in the Oakmasters gallery that the owners, Susie and Paul, spotted when researching how to extend their period style country home. Wanting a larger space to accommodate their family and be the heart of the home, it was important that the extension matched the style of their existing property, which is cladded in reclaimed oak.

The extension combined exposed oak frame with brick walls and reclaimed Tudor-style cladding, to match the original property and create a stunning space for the family to come together and have dinner. The owners wanted a room where the oak beams were the star of the show, not hidden, and most importantly, blended seamlessly with the existing house. Read the case study to learn more about this stunning dining room extension.

2. Orangery-style oak framed extension

The owners of this amazing property in Warwickshire transformed their brick house into a stunning spectacle with three separate Oakmasters extensions wrapping around the sides of the structure. The three extensions: a ‘snug’, an office/games room and a large living area, created lots more space for the family and increased the value of the property. In addition, the owners also added a beautiful oak framed porch and traditional oak cladding to the front of the house, giving it added character.

The oak framed extensions have been completed with significant amounts of glazing in order to create an incredible light-filled space which wasn’t present in the original property. The owners chose orangery style extensions so they could see out of the windows all around the house. 3. Kitchen garden extension with vaulted roof

Set in picturesque Sussex, this stunning oak framed kitchen garden style extension makes a breath-taking addition to the owners’ traditional style property, opening up the building and providing an incredible space for dining, entertaining and enjoying the beautiful garden views.

With an impressive vaulted roof and exposed oak trusses, the extension maximises the space flows effortlessly from a kitchen to a dining space and a large lounge area. Glazing on all three sides brings in the light, and two sides open out via bi-fold glazed doors into the garden, creating a seamless journey from indoor to outdoor space.
